Fallout 2 has arguably the toughest tutorial in the franchise, so if you’re struggling in the beginning with the temple of trials, tag the melee or unarmed skill when you create your character! 03. Main Quest Timer (1:03)

Unlike retrieving the water chip in Fallout 1, there is no fail-state timer in Fallout 2! Hakunin’s dreams do mark the passage of time but by the final one, the game will still continue! Fallout 2 PRETENDS to have a timer in which you must retrieve the GECK but it’s simply meant to create urgency. Again, the game will not end if Hakunin reaches out for you the final time.

04. Close Containers (1:29)

Some containers in this game such as lockers and refrigerators, have an open and close animation. In order to check its contents again, you must close it, then open it once more. Choosing to close the container if it still has loot when you’re done will both remind you that something is inside, and save you an extra animation when you go to open it back up!

Gravedigging does come at a -5 karma penalty each time you dig one up however, and you gain the gravedigger title if you decide to indulge in looting the dead.

09. Drive a Car (3:50)

Fallout 2 has a car you can cruise around the wasteland with, however, it takes a lot of prep to get the thing working. You can find it in The Den and you’ll need a Fuel Cell Controller and 2000 caps to hire Smitty to get it repaired. I’ve created a walkthrough on the full process in how to get the Highwayman which I’ve linked here if you’re interested!

10. Don’t Kill Children (4:13)

There’s no getting around the fact that children are ANNOYING in Fallout 2, they’ll follow you around, ask you stupid questions, and in the case of The Den will STEAL FROM YOU when you walk by. In spite of this, DO NOT KILL CHILDREN in Fallout 2, you will be marked with the Childkiller reputation title which will drop dialogue reactions by 30% when talking to NPC’s, some party members will simply leave your team, and you’ll be followed by bounty hunter encounters for the rest of the game.

11. Holster Weapons (4:43)

Some guards in cities and encounters will ask you to keep your weapons holstered if you wish to interact with them, that includes your party members too! If you don’t tell your crew to put their weapons away as well, the guards will most definitely open fire on you and your team.

12. Bashing Doors (5:09)

In Fallout 1 there were only a few options when it came to locked doors: use a key, pick the lock, or blow it up. In Fallout 2 there’s a new option, smash it with an attack! Some doors are obviously stronger than others, but nothing is quite as satisfying as kicking your way through a door!

13. Knockdown (5:29)

If an enemy is knocked off their feet for a turn or more from say, a targeted hit to the head, not only do you and your team get a 40% accuracy bonus against them if they stay down, but sometimes you can also loot them and take their weapon making them near useless in combat!

14. Small Locations (5:46)

Unlike the large settlements on the map, there’s numerous smaller locations that won’t be visible until you learn about them. If an NPC is talking about a place you haven’t heard of, ask them about it!

15. Using Items In Combat (6:08)

Using your inventory when in combat (without the Quick Pockets perk) costs a hefty 4 Action Points, but in turn, you can use as many healing items as you need to, and take that time to reload your weapon as well; however, if you’re doing this to heal yourself or a teammate with a single stimpak, you can simply use the interact cursor, hold the left button down on the character, and go to the bag icon to use items from your inventory for 2 AP instead!

16. Wasted Action Points (6:38)

Leftover Action Points in a fight are never wasted. If you choose to pass your turn with AP available, it will go directly into your character’s Armor Class until the next turn. 4chan serial killer photos. 17. Weapon Upgrades (7:00)

Andrea R. Hill is a self-confessed “slot machine grinder,” but she still hasn’t visited the new Rosie’s Richmond Gaming Emporium in South Side to try her luck on the array of slot-style machines.

Instead, the Richmond resident prefers to get her daily “gambling fix” at a convenience store near her job, the Quick N Easy in the 4100 block of West Broad Street.

Inside, past the chips and snacks and close to the coolers of beer and sodas, Ms. Hill has her choice of seven cash-operated, computer-controlled machines that mimic the push-button slots of Atlantic City and Las Vegas. The symbols revolve on the screen like slot machines.

Every now and then when the symbols line up right, a player can hit for a jackpot of $2,000.

The store has an arrangement that allows players to get their winnings almost immediately from a clerk.

“It’s fun and I win occasionally. Just the other day, I got a $120 jackpot, but it looks like I’ll be giving that back to the store,” said the 39-year-old pharmacy technician.

“Virginia has come a long way. When I was younger, I used to have to drive out of state to play. Now, these machines are everywhere.”

The convenience store, near Thomas Jefferson High School, is just one of the locations in which these machines have popped up in the past two years. Across the Richmond area and around the state, more than 4,000 similar machines can be found in gas stations, bars and mostly locally owned convenience stores eager for a new stream of revenue.

In a state that has long frowned on gambling, the Virginia Is for Gamblers movement is clearly moving beyond the state-run lottery and parimutuel betting on horse races.

The movement got a big boost two years ago when the General Assembly, seeking to revive horseracing, cleared the way for a $1 billion-plus operation involving machines like the ones at Rosie’s. Instead of random numbers, equipment at Rosie’s with slot-machine faces rely on the results of old races to fuel their results instead of random numbers that typical slots use, according to the regulatory Virginia Racing Commission.

But even before that action, ambitious private companies began exploiting a loophole in the anti-gambling laws in various states, most notably Duluth, Ga.-based Pace-O-Matic and its Richmond-based subsidiary, Queen of Virginia Skill and Entertainment, and Coleman Music and Entertainment of Jacksonville, Fla.

Those companies have been closely reading state laws on gambling to find a way to bypass them. In Virginia, they noticed the law only bans slot machines with three factors — a wager, the offer of a prize or cash and a win based solely on chance. Knock out one, and a machine can be legal.

The top florescent light bulb is easily changed by following these simple procedures. Open the main slot machine door and ensure the door is fully open. Turn off the power to the slot machine. The power switch can be found with the main door open about midway down on the right side just inside the machine.
If the machine is equipped with a top ticket printer, you must pull the bottom of the printer out far enough to see where the ticket paper is located, and note the area large enough to place a couple of your left fingers under.

Remove the top metal trim strip which is a cover plate to the right of the ticket printer and/or is located along the bottom of the top glass. There are a couple of clips on the back of the metal trim strip that fit into notches on metal bracket which holds the top glass. The metal trim strip should be lifted upwards and outwards to remove.
Once the metal trim strip is removed, the next step is to remove the top glass. Note that some top metal trim strips have a slot in the top that holds the top glass and they must be removed very carefully as to not damage or drop the top glass.

You can now see the top glass is held in place by usually two or three clips that rise above the metal bracket behind the top metal trim strip. Now slowly lift up on the top glass from both bottom edges until the top glass until it is high enough to gently pull it forward and allowing it to slide down and away from the top track and clips holding it in place.
Once the top glass has been removed, put it somewhere where it will not get knocked over or broken. You will see the florescent bulb in the middle of the top box area of the machine. Care should be taken removing the bulb as it may be very hot. Remove the old bulb by twisting the florescent tube about a quarter to half turn allowing the two prongs on the bulb to slide out of the fixture on both sides of the bulb.

Remove and discard the old bulb. To install the new bulb, align the two prongs on each side of the florescent tube with the slits on each fixture in the top box of the slot machine. Twist the bulb into place normally using about a quarter to half of a turn. If the bulb is not secure or aligned, repeat the procedure.
If your slot machine is an IGT S Plus machine, it is equipped with a florescent bulb starter. Then you can replace the starter when replacing the florescent light bulb. The starter is an FS-U Universal Starter. They are available at most hardware and department stores or may be ordered online too. The starter for the top florescent bulb on an IGT S Plus machine is located directly behind the florescent bulb fixture on the left side of the slot machine in the top box area.
It is replaced by twisting about a quarter to half a turn as it is held in place with a bayonet type mount. Remove the old starter and discard. Replace with a new FS-U Universal Starter by aligning the two pins on the bottom of the starter with the notches in the starter receptacle, pushing it up into the starter socket, and then twisting it a quarter to half a turn into place.
Prior to re-installing the top glass, turn the power switch on the right inside of the machine on to verify the bulb works properly. If it does not, turn the power off and check that the bulb is properly installed and secure. If replacing a starter, check that it is also properly installed and secure.
After verifying the bulb is working, it is now time to replace the top glass. If your slot machine has a top ticket printer, ensure the ticket printer is still pulled out so you can place your fingers in the opening while replacing the top glass.
Carefully and slowly lift up the top glass placing each hand under the bottom of the top glass. Slide it into the upper edge track on the top box of the slot machine carefully lifting it so it slides into the tracks while being able to push the top glass back far enough to clear the two or three raised clips on the metal bracket where the top glass holding track is located.
Gently and slowly lower the top glass behind the clips so as to allow them to hold the glass in place. If properly secured, the top glass will not be able to slide down or out of its position. Keep a secure hold on the top glass until you are certain it is secured in the proper position.
Replace the top metal trim strip by aligning the two or three hooks the back through the metal bracket that supports and holds the top glass. Once the hooks on the back are in place, gently push the top metal trim strip down and it should snap into place. If you have a slot machine with a top ticket printer, close it tight into position. Close the main slot machine door and you are ready to play.
